Screen Savers Support

The downloaded zipped file will contain a demonstration version of the screen saver in .exe format. Simply double click, follow the steps as they appear, and the files will install into the default folders. For further options and registration information, refer to the settings on the screen saver tab in display properties.

System Requirements: Windows 95 (or higher). The movement in screen savers will run faster or slower depending on your system settings, the amount of RAM and processor size.

Java Technology: Some screen savers are Java technology based. For the screen savers to work properly, your system will need to support Java. You can download it HERE.

All screen savers offered are free demo versions ONLY. To register and obtain a "full" version of a screen saver, click HERE.

Sound Support

Some themes have sounds converted to MPEG Layer-3, which greatly reduces the download file size, but does not affect sound quality.

If you have downloaded a theme and cannot hear the event sounds that were included with that theme, you probably do not have the MPEG Layer-3 codec on your computer.

This can be easily remedied by downloading the file below, unzipping it, reading the simple instructions, and running the .exe file included in the zipped download. It is a very simple procedure and only takes a few minutes.

If you have previously added the MPEG Codex Layer 3 file onto your computer and are still unable to hear the sound files, which will be a very rare occurrence, you will need to download and install Microsoft Netshow Version 2.0. It is in .exe format and all you do is double click and it installs automatically.

Outlook Express Stationery Support

Outlook Express stationery is designed to ONLY work with that application.

The downloaded file will contain an Outlook Express Stationery design in .exe format. Simply double click and the files will install into the default folders. For further instructions refer to the included text file.

Important Note: In order for the stationery scripts to function and be visible, you MUST NOT change the default settings during installation. When prompted, choose "okay" or "open" without changing any other wording. The file is designed to automatically install.

System Requirements: Windows 95 (or higher); Microsoft Outlook Express.

All stationery designs include embedded fonts. If you are using Windows Media Player 9 or 10, you will be unable to send or receive Outlook Express stationery with embedded fonts being visible. There is a registry program where you can simply "switch" one setting in your WM Player and reactivate the ability to view embedded fonts.

IT IS ONLY FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 9 OR 10. Read the text files contained in the downloaded zipped file carefully.

Wallpaper Support

The wallpaper offered on this site is a calendar design for the month and will only be available for a short time and will NOT be archived. Once the new wallpaper replaces it, the previous month will no longer be available.

Installation: The wallpaper is in .jpg format and only size 1024x768. After unzipping the file, right mouse click on the .jpg file. You will get a drop down menu. Choose "Open with" and more options appear. Choose "Internet Explorer." When the wallpaper opens in your browser, right mouse click anywhere on the wallpaper image itself. You will get a menu and choose "set as wallpaper" or "set as background." Close the browser and the wallpaper will already be on your desktop.

Download Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble downloading, you may fit into one of the following categories:

1. If you are not at my website, Themestress Desktop Enhancements, the site you are downloading from is unauthorized to distribute my work and they are bandwidth thieves.

Just click the website name in the paragraph above to come to my site where you will find all my work available.

2. If you are at my website and the downloads will not function, check the address slot in your browser. It must show the entire address: http://www.themestress.com.

You can reach the web pages with the "www" missing, but the download links will not be functional.

3. In order to download, the ftp server where the download files are located MUST be able to ascertain that you are attempting to access the files from themestress.com.

Many kinds of software, either browser or security software, has a setting that can be on or off regarding masking or not revealing the "site last visited." In order for you to be able to download any files on this site, that information must be revealed to the ftp server in order to start the download.

If the ftp cannot ascertain that you are coming from themestress.com, it presumes you are trying to access the download file illegally and you will get an error page and the download will not begin.

You should check your security settings for a switch you can turn on or off regarding "the site last visited" and turn that off at least until the download is complete. Then you can switch it back on if you wish.

4. If you use Norton Internet Security, there is a setting called "privacy control." This switch can be turned on and off to allow downloading.

These are the known conflicts. It is safe to turn off the setting on my site. I have no popup advertising or other types of tracking devices on my site. Any statistics gathered regard traffic and are strictly for my own private use and not shared in any manner.
